An international team of astronomers, including researchers from the University of Galway, announced an “exceptional” discovery of a new planet called WASP-2b. It is described as a giant, gaseous, and newly formed planet, comparable in size to Jupiter. Its age is estimated at only about 5 million years, placing it in one of the earliest stages of formation around a star very similar to our Sun.
