Amazon Successfully Conducts Delivery Drone Test in Italy
The trial took place on Wednesday in San Salvo, a town in the central Abruzzo region.

The company is actively collaborating with Italian authorities to fulfill all necessary requirements for launching the service next year, Amazon stated.

Previously, Amazon indicated plans to introduce drone deliveries in Italy and Britain by late 2024.

In August, the UK's aviation regulator selected six projects, including one by Amazon, to explore drone applications for delivery, infrastructure inspections, and emergency services.

Prime Air drone deliveries, which began in December 2022, are currently operational in select U.S. locations, including Texas and Arizona. The company plans to expand the service gradually, a spokesperson told Reuters.

On December 4, 2024, Amazon drones took flight in Italian skies for the first time, using the new MK-30 drone. According to the company, this advanced drone system integrates Amazon's leading computer vision program to navigate safely and avoid obstacles.

"This technology ensures the safety of people, animals, and property while keeping Amazon drones separate from other aircraft in the area," the statement added.
