YouTube has unveiled a set of new features that will reshape monetization methods for creators, as part of its plan for the next twenty years.
During its Made on YouTube event, the platform announced several updates, most notably:
1. AI-powered recognition:
A feature that can automatically identify products mentioned or shown in a video through images, voice-over, or creator-input data. It will first roll out in the United States next year.
2. Direct links in Shorts:
This feature allows creators to add links to products and brand websites within short videos. Testing will begin this year, with a wider launch next year.
3. Swappable dynamic ads:
A feature that enables inserting brand ads that can later be replaced, giving creators the opportunity to re-sell ad space instead of being limited to a single static ad. These ads will debut in early 2026 before a full rollout later that year.
4. Exclusive sales for loyal fans:
An experimental feature that lets the most engaged viewers purchase exclusive products or items from creators. Testing began earlier this year, though no wide-release date has been set.
YouTube also announced other updates related to live streaming and a set of AI tools to support creators and enhance the Shorts production experience.
